HD Videos From Still Cameras

Today I wanted to take this blog posting in a bit of different direction. I’m a self-admitted nerd so I thought I would geek out a little today and blog about the camera I’ve been looking to invest in.
Now just for the record I’m pretty frugal when it comes to buying digital cameras. I try not to buy the latest greatest digital cameras since they’re super expensive and they depreciate faster than a Jeep. I tend not to buy top of the line cameras because I can pretty much get the same images with a mid level camera and still have money left over. What I’m not cheap about is my lenses. Years ago I learned that buying cheap lenses will haunt you assignment after assignment, so I spend pretty much all my money on the best lenses in the market.
However, there has been one camera that I’ve been salivating to get, and I’m determined to buy it. The new Canon 5D MKII is pretty much everything that I could possibly need in a camera – yes I have a man crush on a camera. Not only can this camera take great photos its also has HD video capabilities. Anyway, I’m not going to really bore you with all the technical mumbo jumbo, but I just wanted to share what American photographer Vince Laforet is doing with the Canon 5D mkII.

So how does this help you? I’ve been toying with the idea of adding a multimedia element of my still work and integrate it with short snippets of videos for slide show presentations. Please don’t think you’ll now be able to replace the videographer, just because my camera can do video doesn’t mean I can.
… we now return to your regular scheduled programming on how to help you with your wedding.
