The importance of having a good record of a happy occasion can't be overstated. It's something to remind us of what's important, when the going gets tough. Or indeed to remind us of our dearly departed as they were on a great joyful day. Memories alone cannot do this - but neither can mere amateur snaps be relied upon. Finding you've paid for photographs that are worse than those your guests have taken, really pushes the point that you normally get what you pay for - but of course it is too late at that point.
